What a great place to live. Whether you are here for work, study or just visiting, there’s plenty to discover in the city and nearby countryside which could keep you coming back for years.

This community dates back to well before the Medieval period when, like today, the city was a major port. It has been served by members and friends of Above Bar Church for over a hundred years.

The city today

Today, the port, an international airport, two universities and many multi-national companies have maintained the international flavour of the city. It’s also the home of the Saints, the South Coast’s premier football team.

The church and the city

Our main Sunday services and a number of weekly activities are held in the building on Above Bar Street, within sight of the Bar Gate, which was the northern entrance to the old city. And there’s lots going on in the suburbs and surrounding areas as the church community seeks to serve all of Southampton for at least another hundred years.
