Greater Shirley carols

We aspire to be a Christian community in mission. To go out to others rather than bring them in to us. To see God do great things in Shirley and district.

This is an exciting time for the Cluster! Having held regular prayer meetings for many years we now have a steering group. As well as continuing the prayer events, we have met on the Common to give away tea and cake to passers-by and to enjoy ourselves. At Christmas, we invited the church choir to sing carols in the precinct outside Sainsbury’s.

A growing community

We are looking for new ways to get to know each other as a cluster family, and to reach out to our community, that we might serve them better.

Within Greater Shirley people from Above Bar Church are involved in many initiatives, including Friends of St. James Park and School Pastors.

Greater Shirley is a large area, incorporating Shirley, Upper Shirley, Shirley Park, Freemantle, Millbrook and Regent’s Park. So we see ourselves fulfilling this prayer over time by helping and linking those who have a passion for serving their immediate streets or those who share similar interests or have specific needs in our area.
