A small group from Above Bar Church are very active in this area and get stuck into all kinds of community activities.

What we do

We run community breakfasts in the Avenue pub and have put on a Christmas street celebration. We think it’s important to interact with the local community to build relationships in which the love and truth about Jesus can be shared. People in the area tell us that they miss a sense of community, so we decided to show them the one place true community is found: in Jesus.

Working with others

Our group works in close partnership with members of Portswood church. Last year we launched The Well community project, which researched the needs of the area, and it is working to start some activities to serve Inner Avenue.
