Why is it worth following Jesus today? Whether your family comes to Above Bar Church or not, come along to one of our groups to find out why you need to hear what Jesus has to say.

There are two youth groups at Above Bar Church:

• The Box for those aged 11–14
  
• Rooted for those aged 15–18

We want to teach the Bible in a way that is relevant to the lives of young people today, to help you discover who Jesus is and grow in your faith.

The Box (11s–14s)

Each Sunday (during the 9.15am service) we study a Bible passage together to explore what God has to say about his plan for our lives. On Fridays (7.30–9pm, in the church building), we look at what God has to say about important issues in life and we run a whole load of activities.

Rooted (15s–18s)

Rooted alternates on Thursday evenings between:

• Bible study at Dan and Jo’s house. At the moment we’re seeing who Jesus is through the message of John’s Gospel.
• Cafe Rooted in the basement of the church building. Join us for hot chocolate, smoothies (not just the leaders!) and cake. Each week we try to answer your questions about God, life and that kind of thing.

We also encourage the group to get involved in short-term mission teams. In summer 2012, a team from Rooted are planning to work with our sent mission partners the Knowlson family in Pennarroya (Spain).

Weekends and weeks away

Once a year, each group has a weekend away, packed with fun, excitement and stretching teaching. In the summer and Easter holidays we encourage young people to attend various conferences. This may include us taking groups away.
