This Easter we will be having an appeal focusing on the persecuted church and the famine crisis.
The appeal will be split between three projects:
- Open Doors supporting the Persecuted church in Sudan
- Tearfund responding to the famine crisis by supporting their work in Sudan
- Translation of David Couchman’s ‘After Life’ video series
Open Doors exist “to strengthen the church to be the church in the most hostile places”. The money raised this year will go to help believers in Sudan; Sudan is no. 5, in Open Doors watch list out of 50 countries where Christians face the most severe persecution. The current famine crisis means the needs are even greater.
Tearfund work tirelessly to help communities around the world escape the very worst effects of poverty and disaster.
Famine has been declared in parts of South Sudan, where more than 270,000 children are already suffering from severe malnutrition'. Tearfund are providing malnutrition treatment for approximately 50,000 mothers and children in South Sudan, as well as food support clean water to thousnads of others in South Sudan.
David Couchman is one of our Sent Mission Partner’s who is working on the translation of his After Life video series into Bengali.
This will reach a people group of 250 million people in Bangladesh and India. This work will support Christians share their faith. Bangladesh is nnumber 26 in Open Door’s world watch list and India number 15.
