We’re committed to helping people get to know Jesus better and to prepare them for a lifetime of serving him.

Transform: serve with a mission

Transform is a year designed to lay the foundations for a life-time of radical service of Jesus. We want to to develop as a disciple of Jesus, a missionary and a leader. We will help you become someone who can follow Jesus for life and influence others' lives as you do so. People on the Transform scheme find a part-time job for around 20 hours, and they serve in the church for another 20 hours in two main areas:

• Serving the church, discovering your gifts: you’ll have the opportunity to serve in loads of different church groups, including children and families, youth, students, over 50s (Cameo), missional communities and church management and organisation.
• Training and support: we’ll enroll you on our School of Missional Discipleship and provide regular team training. You’ll meet with your line manager each month to set goals for your development and we’ll give you a mentor (a church member not involved with the scheme who can offer advice, a listening ear and a nice meal).

We’re looking for Transform workers who are Christians and have:

• A love for God, a passion for his glory and a longing to know and love him more.
• A heart for the lost and a willingness to serve Jesus at Above Bar Church.
• A willingness to learn and an eagerness to take on a wide variety of responsibilities throughout the church.
• A desire to work well as part of a team with other staff and members of the church family.

Network: discover your gifts

Do you want to find out what gifts God has given you? Do you want to find out how to serve in the church? We think God has given spiritual gifts to every Christian, so that they can serve the church family.

We run the Network course at least twice a year. This course is designed to help you discover your spiritual gifts and to find out how to begin using them in the church. Look out for the next course in the calendar, or contact the church office and they’ll let you know when the next course starts.
