Above Bar Church is a community of people who are passionate about Loving God, Following Jesus and Sharing Hope. We are one church meeting on two sites - one in the City and one in the East of Southampton.
For the forseable future we will be holding one Sunday service online. We will provide updated information on our Coronavirus page » For up to date info on our city site activites and virtual meetings, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What we’re about
At Above Bar Church we have a deep conviction that we are called to Love God, Follow Jesus and Share Hope. God shows us his love in Jesus Christ who died to save us and rose from death to give us life. So we want to love God with all that we are. We believe that following Jesus is the best way to live and want to follow him with every part of our lives. Jesus calls us to share the hope we have in him; we aim to do this within Southampton and around the world.

Sundays at Above Bar Church | City
Our City site is based in the centre of Southampton, right on the high street. We meet three times on a Sunday, at 9.15am, 11am and 6pm. These services are key times for the church family to worship God, to hear him speak to us through the Bible and to spend time with each other.
During the Christmas, Easter and summer school holidays, we often have only one morning service at 10am. Please check the calendar for service times around these periods.
Each Sunday service is followed by tea and coffee in the lounge.
Our Sunday gatherings are at 69 Above Bar Street, Southampton, SO14 7FE.
- This site is near to many city-centre car parks and on-street parking. There are also bus routes straight to the city centre.
- There is disabled access and disabled toilet facilities.
Children and youth
Your children (0-11) are going to love their morning with us. We have fun-filled, age-appropriate groups as part of our 9.15am and 11am meetings. Children typically go out to the groups during the service. We run a crèche for babies and toddlers as well as our Great Sunday Morning Adventure for primary school-aged children.
Students are very welcome. Most students come to the 11am and 6pm services. The atmosphere is relaxed, the Bible is taught faithfully and relevantly, and the sung worship is vibrant. We look forward to welcoming you into our family.
You’ll find mid-week groups especially for students, equipping you for your mission on campus.
Ministries and city-centre activities
We are keen to be a blessing to our local community and therefore operate a number of city centre initiatives, including our Big Breakfast, a food bank and English Language conversation classes, and Poppin for pre-school children and their parents or carers.
We also host More2Life — a discussion group for adults — which meets during our 9.15am service at Above Bar Church | City.
There are loads of great ways to get involved, whether you want to come along, get connected with a small group or serve on a team. Send an email to email@example.com and one of our team will get in contact with you.
