Above Bar Church is open to all and we aim to make access to the building as easy as possible for those with disabilities. Just get in touch with us if you’re unsure about anything.
There are a number of reserved disabled parking bays directly outside the church building on Ogle Road. That these can fill up quickly so we encourage you to arrive in plenty of time.
The main entrance to the building on Above Bar Street has no steps. Lifts provide access to all levels of the building.
During the services spaces are reserved for those in wheelchairs. These can be found just inside the auditorium main entrance. The stewards will be happy to direct you if you ask.
A toilet suitable for wheelchair access can be found in the lounge on the auditorium level (first floor), on the right-hand side just as you enter.
Hard of hearing
An induction loop system is provided in the church. Use the ‘T’ setting on your hearing aid to make use of the system.
Guide dogs are welcome in the church.
All song words appear on the screen. If you have trouble seeing the words, copies of the songs are available from the information desk (right ahead of you as you enter the lounge) in standard and large print.
If there is anything else that you think we should provide to help you access our services, please let us know.
Some of the Above Bar Church family reach out in specific ways to people with a disability who are living in Southampton. At the moment we support the work of our SCN partner Southampton Torch Fellowship (STF); which engages with people who have a visually impairment.
