Every 22 minutes a child is taken into care in the UK.
In James 1:27, true religion is defined as: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
The evangelical alliance have launched Home For Good to try and help vulnerable children.
In Southampton, Families For Forty is a partnership between faith communities and the local council to find families willing to care for 40 children. Above Bar Church is a part of this, and a number of church members are already exploring adoption. Paul and Rebekka Webber and Jon and Abi Barnes are in the lengthy assessment process at the moment to become foster carers and will hopefully be fostering by the end if 2013.
How could you play your part?

- Could you pray for the 220 people who have shown interest in fostering in Southampton so far?
- Could you practically support those who are considering fostering?
- Will you prepare yourself that church will be a lot messier when we have vulnerable children and families in our community?
