Above Bar Church is about to complete a bold redesign of its city-centre building. Situated on the corner of Above Bar Street and Ogle Road, the redesigned church building will equip the church to better serve the community and make Jesus known to its people.
Paul Webber, Minister of Above Bar Church, said,
“We are so thankful for the generosity of those in our congregation who have given to support this project. Our aim is to reach out to everyone who may be passing our church building – that they would be aware that the church is living and active in Southampton city centre. We are passionate that as many people as possible have the opportunity for a warm welcome and to hear the good news about Jesus Christ. And with our trial meetings on the East of the city, we are excited about the potential for reaching out to more and more people across Southampton.”
The church will be holding an opening celebration on Sunday 16th September 2018 at 10.30am – at 69 Above Bar Street – and are inviting anyone who would like to attend and give thanks to God together. Register your interest on Facebook here »
This marks the completion of the second phase of the Refresh project. The first phase saw significant improvements inside the building, while this phase has included a wholesale change to the front street-level entrance, a complete replacement of the windows on the Above Bar Street and Ogle Road side, and installation of eye-catching signage.
On a busy high street, the Above Bar Church building stands out as a beacon drawing people in to join a welcoming community.
