In Psalm 130, the writer cries out to the Lord: “Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.” We are also calling to the Lord to be merciful to us and to our nation. We are seeking God.
This blog post accompanies the church prayer night taking place on 12th November at 69 Above Bar Street. We can join together to pray, wherever we are.
Prayer of forgiveness
"Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin."
Pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness:
- corporately (for the church),
Praise and adoration
"Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."
- for who He is,
- for what He has done, what He is doing, what He will do.
Prayer for the nation
"The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations."
- there to be a spiritual awakening in the nation,
- people to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus,
- revival in the body of Christ,
- the spread of the gospel.
Prayer for Above Bar Church
"May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us—
so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations."
Pray for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in all the church’s ministry and mission.
