Serving and worshipping in Uganda

Paul Allcock Paul Allcock Church member

It was a huge privilege to lead this team to Mbarara in Uganda. It is hard to imagine how it could have gone better – the team were amazing in their willingness to contribute, step out of their comfort zones, serve, learn and work with others. Rev Justus, the chaplain of St Luke’s, and the student team gave us a great welcome and were tremendous in engaging with our team.

The time we spent each day as a team studying 1 Peter, sharing from God’s word and praying together was significant in building team, each person being willing to participate. The level of unity and friendship that developed within the team was extraordinary and a real evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit. We cannot speak highly enough of the part Zillah played in opening her home and her life to us – she was a shining example and inspiration.

The team eagerly embraced opportunities to worship and build relationships with students from St Luke’s and to reach out to freshers and in door-to-door evangelism in the student residences – it was thrilling to hear the feedback from these experiences as they realised that God was using them.

Our prayer is that this visit will be the launchpad for a growing relationship between Above Bar Church and St Luke’s, with further trips in both directions.

There is so much more we could write but we hope this brief report and the video we have shown convey something of the gratitude in our hearts to God and to the church for entrusting this trip to us, thank you!
