The youth work at Above Bar Church seeks to Enable young people to Engage with God by:

Enjoying one another, Experiencing his love and being Equipped for whole life discipleship.

This means that the young people at Above Bar Church are given a community to be part of, a great programme of events to come to, an opportunity to explore the christian faith and for those that are Christians, to have loads of opportunities to get to know him better.

There are three youth groups at Above Bar Church:

  • The Box: 11 - 13s (school years 7 + 8)

  • Engage: 14 - 16s (school years 9 - 11)

  • Rooted: 17 - 18s (1st + 2nd year of college)

We want to teach the Bible in a way that is relevant to the lives of young people today, to help you discover who Jesus is and grow in your faith.

The Box

Each Sunday we spend time together as a family catching up on the week. We will then head to groups to look at the Bible together in an open and interesting way. On Thursdays from 7.00 to 8:30pm we look at what God has to say about important issues in life and we run a whole load of fun activities.

While we are not meeting together we are still meeting as best we can by video conference. Please email matthewclucas@abovebarchurch.org.uk for more information.

Engage

Each Sunday we spend time together playing some games as a group, catching up and then engage with the Bible to hear from God. We will also spend some weeks in the main church service learning how to be a part of the main church on Sundays. On Thursdays from 7.00 to 8.30pm we look at what God has to say about important issues in life and we run a whole load of fun activities.

While we are not meeting together we are still meeting as best we can by video conference. Please email matthewclucas@abovebarchurch.org.uk for more information.

Rooted

Rooted meets in some leaders home every other Monday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We also try to meet to do more social things around this time. Many of the Rooted members are helping out at church which is a really exciting part of being a member.

While we are not meeting together we are still meeting as best we can by video conference. Please email matthewclucas@abovebarchurch.org.uk for more information.

Weekends and weeks away

Once a year, each group has a weekend away, packed with fun, excitement and stretching teaching. In the summer and Easter holidays we encourage young people to attend various conferences. This may include us taking groups away.

YouVersion: reading the Bible together

“How can we encourage each other through the week?” That’s a question that our home group has recently been mulling over.
