Christians Against Poverty

Christians Against Poverty offers help for those struggling with the burden of debt.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is an award winning, national debt counselling charity offering free help and advice through a network of debt centres based in the local church. CAP offers hope and a solution to people in debt through its top-quality, in-depth service as well as financial education through the CAP Money Course.

You don’t have to be a Christian to receive help from CAP and the service is free. If you are struggling with debt, help is available.

Above Bar Church aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counselling, advice and practical help. Our ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. We are providing sustainable poverty relief as our service teaches clients vital budgeting skills that will last a lifetime.

During Coronavirus

For clients who are currently working with the CAP debt centre, our head office staff are available and working from home so you can still get in touch with your case work team in the usual way.

Our local teams are also working from home and supporting our clients through telephone appointments. If you have been waiting for a budget appointment, your debt coach will have been in touch with you to let you know what is needed to progress your case and to arrange a time for the appointment when the necessary information has been received.

A number of clients are in touch through WhatsApp and if you would like to join this group, please contact Ros, the centre manager, on rosbriggs@capuk.org or 07552 313738.

CAP is able to offer a telephone- based service during the Covid-19 epidemic for new clients. If you are struggling with debt then please ring 0800 328 0006 and ask for an appointment with your local debt centre. CAP offer free debt advice and support so please do call so we can assist you.

CAP Life skills and Fresh Start are not able to meet together at the moment, but again the managers and coaches are in touch with members.

Let’s continue to pray for all affected by this time and to all our clients, please get in touch with your debt coach or Ros if you have any concerns.
